ABOUT

MEET POLLY

Therapist and Founder

Many of the women I work with have spent years being the responsible one. They’re used to holding things together, often quietly, even when it comes at a personal cost.

I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor with training in both relational and psychodynamic approaches. This means we look gently and steadily at what shaped you, the expectations you’ve carried and the emotional habits you learned long before you realised they were habits.

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and I adapt how I work depending on what feels right for you.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent two decades in corporate HR supporting people through pressure, conflict and periods of change. That work showed me how easily responsibility becomes a default role, especially for women, and how hard it can be to step back from it without feeling guilty or anxious.

If you’d like to see the different ways we can work together, you can explore your options here.

At Crabtree Therapy, my aim is to create a reflective, steady space where you can explore what has shaped you and what no longer fits. Together, we begin to understand the rules you grew up with, the impact they still have and the possibility of living in a way that feels more grounded, more spacious and more your own.

THE CRABTREE THERAPY APPROACH

Many people seek therapy believing something in them needs to be fixed. It’s a common idea, but not one I subscribe to.

I don’t see my clients as problems to solve or projects that need upgrading. You're already someone with history, reasons and patterns that made sense for a long time.

Therapy, as I offer it, is a chance to pause and look at what's shaped you. We explore the roles you stepped into, the expectations that gathered around you and the ways you found to get through difficult moments. Some of this still supports you, but some of it has started to feel outdated, as if it no longer fits.

As we talk, you’ll start to notice which parts of those old patterns feel familiar but unhelpful and which parts still hold meaning.

From there, you can begin to make choices that feel calmer and more genuine, rather than driven by pressure or habit.

This work isn't about pushing yourself into a different version of who you are. It’s about understanding yourself more fully and having enough space to choose how you want to be today. If you’d like to talk things through, you can get in touch here.
